What is RemaNet?

RemaNet is an innovative project funded under the Horizon 2023 programme, focusing on the green and digital transition. The project aims to develop an integrated remanufacturing system that promotes the circular economy by optimizing disassembly and material reuse processes, with a particular focus on the industrial sector. The project falls under the Call Horizon-CL4-2023-TWIN-TRANSITION-01, with the goal of promoting solutions for sustainable and digital production.

RemaNet Project Objectives

RemaNet aims to develop a remanufacturing networking system that enables efficient lifecycle management of products through advanced technologies such as cloud-based distributed systems and data interoperability. The main objectives of the project include:

Remanufacturing optimization: Improve the reuse processes of materials and components, reducing waste and promoting the circular economy.

Digital integration: Create a system that smoothly connects data among the various actors involved in the remanufacturing process, facilitating resource and material management.

Green transition: Contribute to sustainability by reducing the environmental impact of industrial activities and promoting more efficient resource use.

The Role of Extra Red in RemaNet

Extra Red plays a key role in the RemaNet project, contributing to the integration of a cloud-based distributed system that manages data interoperability among the various stakeholders involved in the remanufacturing process. In particular, Extra Red is responsible for:

  • Managing data interoperability: Designing and implementing a system that enables IDS data space connectors to effectively exchange information within the RemaNet workflow.

  • Matchmaking and supply/demand: Managing the matchmaking process between the supply and demand of materials and components during disassembly and remanufacturing phases.

  • Access profiling and validation: Defining a mechanism to profile and validate data access by different stakeholders, ensuring a secure and transparent information flow.

  • Developing a user-friendly interface: Creating an intuitive user interface that allows users to easily follow the remanufacturing process, improving experience and information management.

Project Funding and Duration

The RemaNet project is funded with a total of €8,178,210, with a 70% contribution from the European Union. The overall duration of the project is 3 years (36 months), starting from January 2024. This funding will support the development and implementation of the planned innovative solutions, ensuring broad support for achieving the project’s objectives.

Expected Benefits of RemaNet

The RemaNet project has the potential to deliver numerous benefits, including:

  • Industrial Sustainability: Promoting the circular economy through a system that optimizes the use of resources and materials, reducing waste.

  • Advanced Digital Integration: Creating an interconnected data flow that enables efficient and digital management of remanufacturing processes.

  • Technological Innovation: Developing an advanced cloud platform that facilitates collaboration among different stakeholders, improving operational efficiency.

  • Green Transition: Contributing to the reduction of environmental impact from industrial activities, making production processes more sustainable.

The Importance of RemaNet for the Green and Digital Transition

RemaNet offers a concrete response to the challenges industries face in transitioning toward more sustainable and digital production models. By leveraging advanced technologies and creating an integrated system, the project aims to foster resource circularity, reduce pollution, and promote a more green and smart industrial production.

Conclusion: Toward a Digital and Sustainable Future with RemaNet

With the RemaNet project, the European Union aims to revolutionize the industrial sector by combining digital innovation and environmental sustainability. The contribution of Extra Red is crucial for implementing the advanced technologies needed to connect the various actors in the production process and optimize resource usage. RemaNet is set to become a reference model for the industrial sector, accelerating the transition toward more sustainable and digitalized production.
